Exothermic & Insulating Hot Tops (Any Shape Any Size)
INTRODUCTION
Hot Tops act as a reservoir of liquid metal for the cast iron mould in steel ingot castings. It keeps the metal in molten form and feed the metal to the ingot body till solidification of casting is completed, by providing an exothermic reaction along with insulating properties and it solidifies at last. We are selling this product under the trade name METAHOTTM
Function
The function of Hot Top is to keep the metal in molten form till solidification of ingot body is completed, initially by providing enormous amount of heat due to exothermic reaction till complete burning of Hot Top, then it acts as an insulator to furnish above function.
Availability
METAHOTTM is available in long range of sizes & shapes like Square, Rectangular, Round, Fluted and Pad Form. METAHOTTM is supplied with required quantity and quality of Anti Piping Compound (METALUXTM). Sealing Compound (METASEALTM) is also provided separately for fixing the Hot Top on C.I. Mould. METAHOTTM Hot tops are primarily wrapped in polythene and then packed in corrugated boxes to prevent moisture pick-up and damage during transit.

Product Properties
The properties of METAHOTTM Hot Tops like bulk density, gas content, aluminium content and moisture are maintained in a manner to achieve the desired feeding efficiency and to minimize losses due to cavity formation in ingot body. There is an excessive top crop of about 15-20 % depending on metal composition and ingot shape etc. Some specific information of METAHOTTM hot tops are tabulated as below :

METAHOTTM is a shelf life based item and it has a long shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacturing when kept in original packing as well as stored in cool and dry place. METAHOTTM is also free from any kind of hazardous materials.

Metafix is a paste form compound with excellent binding properties. It is used for fixing the core in the mould.
METACOLLAPSE L-60 (SUGAR BASED COLLAPSIBLE AGENT)
Metacollapse L -60 is a liquid break down or collapsible agent for sodium silicate-CO2 binder system. It is used to improve the collapsibility of sand.
M-SIL (REPAIRING COMPOUND)
M-Sil is a repairing compound for mould and core in paste form. It used for smooth surface finish of casting
METASTRIP (PATTERN RELEASING AGENT)
Metastrip is a pattern releasing agent which is responsible for smooth releasing of pattern used in self setting moulding system .
METASIL 123 (SODIUM SILICATE BINDER WITH COLLAPSIBLE AGENT)
Metasil 123 is a sodium silicate binder with break down or collapsible agent. It is used to improve the collapsibility of sand.
METASEAL (SEALING COMPOUND)
Metaseal powder is a premix of refractory filler and binders etc. It is used for fixing or joining the Hot Tops on mould surface. It can also be used for joining the BP Set.
